Malta International Airport hand luggage liquids rules
At Malta International Airport you can take liquids in containers of up to 2 litres each, with no plastic bag, and keep them and your laptop in your hand luggage.

- Yes
- Laptops stay in bag
- Yes
- Every lane
- Yes, all lanes
Containers over 2 litres must be empty, or go in the hold. The airport page says this applies at the central security checkpoint. MaltaToday reported in December 2024 that all six lanes there had new scanners, and local news first reported the 2-litre limit on 7 August 2025, so no exact start date is given. You may carry more than the limit only for medicines and baby food needed on the trip. Medicines need proof such as a prescription or doctor's letter. Baby food and milk are allowed only if you travel with a child aged 0 to 24 months. Duty free bought at Malta must stay sealed in its security bag with the receipt. The airport warns that the 100 ml limit has not been lifted at every EU airport, so check your destination for the flight home.
Medicines, baby food and duty-free in sealed bags are exempt from the 100 ml limit. Rules vary by airport, so check your return and connecting airports too.
